The CoreNet NYC Coro Leadership New York Program Announces 2018 Scholarship Recipients

October 2018

The CoreNet NYC Chapter is pleased to continue its partnership with Coro, an organization with a mission to shape the City’s future. Coro New York is the premier leadership training organization that delivers the skills, knowledge, and network to lead change. Over the last 18 years, more than 2,500 participants have gone through the NYC Coro Civic Leadership Program which equips each participant with the necessary skills to implement change in New York City and beyond. Coro aims to train ethical, diverse civic leaders nationwide and has notable alumni including city Council members, Commissioners, executive directors and entrepreneurs.

The Coro Leadership Program puts an emphasis on teaching and implementing change within the public sector. Participants are encouraged to learn the landscape of NYC’s government structure and raise their personal political awareness. From there, they learn how to ask insightful questions and facilitate productive conversation. Upon competition of the program, participants are equipped with the skills to create meaningful change in their communities. Coro is proud to have a network of thousands of alumni that return year after year to help educate its new participants, two of which are receiving this year’s scholarships.

The 2018 CoreNet NYC Coro Leadership scholarship recipients are Alison Kwiatkowski and Alexandra Sutherland-Brown. Both use their deep understanding of how the City works to lead change in their communities and respective organizations. We are pleased to highlight these women below:

She believes in an interdisciplinary, human-centric approach to real estate and her civic duties and is motivated by her sense of responsibility and desire to create a positive impact. She applied for the Coro Leadership New York program to build a greater understanding of the landscape of the City and improve her skills sets to make a difference. As she moves into the next chapter of her life, Alison is determined to move towards a more community-focused career. She sees the Leadership New York program as a great opportunity to help guide that transition.

She is an avid believer that the built environment directly impacts individual mental illness and seeks to create healthier environments through her work.
