Health & Happiness Event: Focus on Biophilic Design

When:  Jan 20, 2016 from 05:30 PM to 08:00 PM (ET)
Associated with  Philadelphia

For most people in the developed world, life is spent mainly inside. For example, the average American spends 90% of their life indoors. Yet our DNA is rooted in nature—far vistas, the wind blowing across our skin, and raindrops falling on our heads.

Over time, the notion of shelter has changed to the point where the basics needs of fresh air, daylight, and views to nature are frequently absent in our buildings. This disconnect is only compounded by the toxicity of our building interiors, which leave us unhealthy and diminished, rather than sustained and renewed.

Please join CoreNet Philadelphia, the Delaware Valley Green Building Council, and the Philadelphia LBC Collaborative for a conversation about how buildings can increase our well-being through biophilic design and an indoor environment created to promote health and happiness, the two underlining themes of the Health and Happiness Petal. We'll start by talking about the Petal's air quality requirements then hear from some excellent speakers listed below, and finish the event with a lively panel discussion.
