Community Outreach: Special Olympics Track & Field Spring Games Volunteer Opportunity

When:  May 12, 2019 from 09:30 AM to 12:00 PM (ET)
Associated with  New York City
Special Olympics is an international organization that changes lives by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities. Their goal is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympics-style sports for children and adults, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

The committee is looking for 10 volunteers to assist the athletes with the Track & Field Spring Games! CoreNet members attended last year and reported back raving about the competition. You will be paired individually with an athlete and are welcome to bring others to participate; please mention this and your t-shirt size (if you have not already received one) in your RSVP. There is no experience necessary, just a positive attitude and loads of encouragement! Please also be prepared in appropriate clothing and footwear. *This event is open to all members.*
