THE ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND TOUR
SIGS TOUR RBS' STAMFORD HEADQUARTERS
In May, members of the New York City Chapter’s financial and insurance SIG,
or Special Interest Group, visited the Stamford, CT headquarters of the
Royal Bank of Scotland. The event, led by RBS’ Neil Grassie, executive vice
president, Head of Property Services, featured a tour of the facility and a
presentation of the challenges and opportunities the bank faced from 2006 to
2009 during the development of its new headquarters. The discussion explored
how the design and location decision emerged out of their New York strategic
plan and why the progressive new facility incorporates workplace strategies
and lifestyle into the workplace environment and serves as a living model
for future business operations and client service.

On May 12, CoreNet Global NYC held a PowerPoint-free, highly engaging conversation about mobility and the virtual workplace. Among the discussed topics included Inc. Magazine’s recent experiment with going virtual for the April issue, Pfizer's agile working initiative, and the BlueWork program at American Express. The value of face-to-face interaction, the impact of the workplace on performance, and the importance of corporate real estate leaders encouraging more mobility were topics of debate throughout this program.
